DICJ inspects to ensure health and safety measures are properly enforced in casinos

DICJ inspects all casinos in the state to ensure that the health and safety measures are properly enforced – Macau’s Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau said in a statement on Saturday

This was announced after the announcement of easing quarantine restrictions for travelerscoming from Guangdong province in Mainland China. Visitors coming from the province are not required to undergo a 14-day quarantine upon returning to Guangdong, thus effectively increasing visitations to Macau without the quarantine protocol.

As reported by , the inspection was carried out by the Head of Gambling and DICJ Inspects Department, Vong Chi Fu and the Coordinator of the Center of Disease Prevention and Control Health Services Dr. Lam Chong.

The requirements are to ensure that all casino employees and guests adhere to the health and safety measures as required by the Macau health authorities.

The day after implementation of the fresh requirements for visitors, the Macau government started Covid-19 testing for casino front liners with the capacity to test between 4,000 to 5,000 individuals. At a press conference on Friday, health authorities announced that they have tested 4,228 casino employees on the first day alone.

Front line casino workers are categorised as casino dealers, security personnel, cage staff and F&B wait staff on the gaming floor. In 2019, there are more than 58,000 gaming employees with over 25,000 casino dealers.

The regulator also said that regular meetings will be held to ensure that health and safety measures are being followed and discuss developing conditions.  At present, the SAR has no recorded new cases of Covid-19.
