Emerald Bay to open on time without cutting corners – PH Resorts Chief Operating Officer Jose Angel Sueiro

Dennis Uy, on behalf of Philippine-listed firm, PH Resorts Group Holdings Inc., said in a press release published on Thursday that Emerald Bay is expediting the opening of the integrated resort in Mactan, Cebu to 2021 – despite the Covid-19 situation.

The statement said management is pushing the early opening by the end of 2021, as opposed to earlier statement of first phase opening towards the second quarter of 2022.

PH Resorts Chief Operating Officer Sueiro said in the statement that “despite the challenges of COVID-19, we are diligently working on the completion of the first phase of Emerald Bay.

“Our team continues working to ensure we reduce project costs without sacrificing quality. Our focus is getting Emerald Bay to open on time without cutting corners,” added Sueiro.

The initial opening of Emerald Bay will offer 122 gaming tables, 200 electronic gaming machines (EGM) and 270 hotel rooms.

“The first phase of Emerald Bay is scheduled to open by the second quarter of 2022, but the management team is planning for an early opening by the end of 2021, which will initially feature 122 gaming tables for mass, premium mass and junkets; 600 electronic gaming machines, and 270 hotel room bays,” the firm said.

Come 2022, the firm added that they will have an increase in gaming capacity as well as additional hotel rooms.

In total, the property will have 146 gaming tables for mass, premium and junket floor, 729 EGMs, 780 hotel rooms and five villas.

Emerald Bay would be the first integrated resort on the tourist island, Cebu province, which sits an hour flight away from Manila. The capital Cebu City has been one of the hardest hit areas in the country for Covid-19 cases and remains to be on a Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) status, preventing all forms of gambling and entertainment from resuming operations.
