Evolution one step closer to acquiring NetEnt after CMA approval

World leader in video-streamed Live Dealer gaming, Evolution Gaming, has gained approval from the UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) essential for finalising their acquisition proposal of leading supplier NetEnt.

Evolution Gaming showed their interest in acquiring NetEnt back in June this year with an all-share bid valued at SEK19.6bn ($2.26bn)

The CMA began investigating the proposal in September; conducting competition clearances in order to deduce if the acquisition would reduce competition in the British iGaming market. The CMA were happy with their finding and have now allowed for the deal to proceed.

Along with gaining the necessary competition approvals from the Malta Competition and Consumer Affairs Authority in late September, Evolution Gaming have the go ahead to proceed.

All Evolution Gaming can do now is eagerly wait for NetEnt shareholders to come to a verdict by the 20th November. In the meantime, the supplier’s board have given the offer a green light.

Settlement would commence from the 1st December; however, it is possible for the acceptance period to be extended and the settlement date postponed.
