Singapore’s Marina Bay and Resorts World to reopen

Marina Bay Sands will “resume operations progressively” starting today with nearly 200 retail and restaurant outlets to reopen

Marina Bay Sands and Resorts World Sentosa will partially reopen as Singapore enters Phase 2 earlier this week, allowing resumption of operations for retail businesses, restaurants, sporting and public facilities, playgrounds, beaches, stadiums, swimming complexes, sports halls and gyms. 

On its company website, Marina Bay Sands stated that it will “resume operations progressively” starting 19 June with nearly 200 retail and restaurant outlets to reopen.  

The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands will initially cater to loyalty program, Sands Rewards members to ensure that social distancing measures and limits in capacity are followed.  

Resorts World Sentosa will resume dining services on Friday, as Singapore enters Phase 2.

The property increased the frequency of regular cleaning and sanitizing of common areas as well as disinfection of high-touch surfaces, interactive equipment within the mall like digital screens, lifts, equipment for rent such as wheelchairs and strollers. There will also be a mandatory temperature check for those entering the mall, while additional scanners will be located inside the mall as well.  

However, Marina Bay Sands-operated F&B outlets, other venues and attractions in the Integrated Resort such as the Hotel, Casino, ArtScience Museum and Sands Expo and Convention Centre, will remain closed until further notice.  

Meanwhile, Resorts World Sentosa announced that it will resume dining services on Friday, as Singapore enters Phase 2. The integrated resort, which includes all venues, attractions, hotels, restaurants, casino, retail outlets and convention centre received the SG Clean Certification from the Singapore Government, which recognises “full commitment towards upholding the highest standards of sanitisation and hygiene across the resort.” 

Resorts World Sentosa, however, stated that all other guest offerings, remain suspended until further notice.  

“We are working closely with the authorities on our reopening plans to invite our guests back to our resort in a safe manner, in line with the Government’s health directives. We support and stand united with Singapore’s recovery from COVID-19”, the operator added.
